Sherpa Capital, an Iberian private equity fund manager specializing in medium-sized companies, has announced today the appointment of Isaac Lahuerta as an Investment Director in the special situations team.
Lahuerta joins Sherpa Capital after working for more than two years and a half as a Principal at private equity firm BTC, where he made debt and equity investments in companies in special situations.
Before that, he served as an investment analyst in London for global investment firm Avenue Capital Group, which specializes in distressed investments.
With more than five years of investment experience inspecial situations, Lahuerta started his professional career in Deutsche Bank in London, where he worked as an analyst and as an associate in the M&A Industrials and Leveraged Finance teams.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya as well as an MSc in Management, with a major in Finance, from international business school HEC Paris.
Lahuerta joins the Sherpa Capital investment team a few months after the firm reached a final close of €120m for its new special situations fund Sherpa Special Situations III. Like the predecessor vehicles,the investment strategy of the fund focuses on companies facing transformation situations due to the economic environment or as a result of some extraordinary situation of a strategic, operational, financial or share holding structure nature.
Sherpa Special Situations III plans to make between 8 and 10 investments, writing equity tickets of between €10m and €25m, in companies of different economic sectors with turnover between €20m and €300m.
