Within the framework of the investment plan for year 2016, Indo, leader company in the commercialisation of ophthalmic lenses to optical shops, has closed the acquisition of Cristales Ópticos Traserra, a firm with a track record of more than 50 years on the Spanish market and an extensive experience in the optical sector.
Cristales Ópticos Traserra has a lenses treatment, carving and bevelling laboratory in Badalona (Barcelona) and a very large independent clients portfolio. With this acquisition, Indo will increase its producing capacity by 15% and extends the service it offers to its current portfolio. Furthermore, it consolidates its presence on the Spanish market, which is one of the goals that had been set by the company’s management team following Sherpa Capital’s acquisition of a shareholding in 2014. Cristales Ópticos Traserra’s transaction adds to the € 2 million already invested by the venture capital firm in the Group’s laboratories in Spain and Morocco over the past two years.
INDO increases its innovation potential through Open Innovation, collaborating on a continuous basis with universities, technological centres, companies and suppliers, thus summing up a total of more than 50 additional researchers. INDO has headed and taken part in 5 open investigation projects funded by the European Commission in recent years.
